5 Steps To A Top Quality Nights Sleep

I’ll be honest, sleeping is one of my favourite things to do these days – I’ll make the most of it wherever I can.

Last night for example, a Friday night, I was out like a light by 9.30pm – exhausted. 

Now I’m sure many of you feel the same about sleep, but how many of you struggle to get to sleep? How many of you struggle to get a good nights sleep that doesn’t involve tossing and turning or waking up to have thoughts about something you should have done at work earlier that day? 

I’m guessing a good few of you.

Well now I’m working 14 hours a day AND expecting my body and mind to function at a high level, I’ve been doing everything I can to improve the quality of sleep I do manage to get.

Not only that, but many of my clients need to work on it too – so here’s a few things you can try to make the most of the very little time you have to switch off.

1. Bath time

Magnesium is a massively underestimated chemical and bloody loads of us are magnesium deficient. 

The best thing you can do to get a good nights sleep is to ‘prepare’ for a good nights sleep…in come Magnesium Flakes.

These bad boys help de-stress and calm both the mind and body, so whack these in a nice hot bath, light yourself a candle and chill the f*ck out (and that doesn’t mean scrolling through Instagram whilst you’re at it). 

2. Set the mood

You’ve stepped out of the bath, you’ve put on your fluffy PJ’s and you’re ready to get in to bed.

3. Switch of all devices

Many think that scrolling through random shit on their phone, or watching Netflix is ‘chilling’ – well not for your brain it isn’t. 

Your mind and body is constantly under stress, whether its good stress or bad stress, many of us are switched ON almost all of the time. 

Before you hit the hay, schedule even just 10-20 minutes of looking at absolutely nothing and let your mind take some time out.

4. Spray shit

I obviously don’t mean ‘spray shit’ literally. 

A good friend of mine passed on this stuff and I’ve been hooked ever since.

5. Relax the mind

Being physically and mentally relaxed before you sleep not only helps you to fall asleep quicker, but it means the quality of sleep you have is also much better.

So yes, now that the new year is here and everyone is looking to go at it at 110mph, just remember that to do that in the long run, and to keep it up too…sleep is everything.
